Woman Gangraped in Sundargarh; Police Arrest 3 Accused

Kopasigha (Sundargarh): Four persons are accused of gang raping a woman labourer on Monday night in the Sundargarh district’s Kopasingha area, which is under the Sadar police limits.

Police arrested three people in this regard in response to the victim’s complaint. A manhunt has been initiated, according to the police, to find the fourth suspect who is on the run.

At around 8 PM, four people forcibly dragged the woman to a location where they each took turns raping her. The woman, who is divorced from her husband and makes a meagre living selling fish, is said to have been returning home.

Notably, in another such case, a woman from Bhubaneswar was allegedly gang raped on December 11 by three people solely because she disapproved of a boisterous birthday celebration.

Following the victim’s allegation, Mancheswar police took immediate action and detained the three suspects.
