Phase 4 Polls Tomorrow: 96 LS Seats Across 10 States, UTs; All 175 Assembly Seats in Andhra

The fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 is set to take place on Monday, across 96 Lok Sabha constituencies across 10 states and Union Territories will be contested, alongside polling for all 175 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and 28 legislative Assembly seats in Odisha. Prominent candidates like Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Union Minister Giriraj Singh, TMC’s firebrand leader Mahua Moitra, and AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi will contest in this phase, determining their electoral fortunes.

A total of 1,717 candidates are vying for Lok Sabha seats, with over 19 lakh polling officials deployed across 1.92 lakh polling stations. Notable contests include Akhilesh Yadav in Kannauj (UP), Giriraj Singh in Begusarai (Bihar), and Asaduddin Owaisi in Hyderabad (Telangana).

Additionally, 175 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh witness a triangular contest between YSRC, the Congress-led INDIA bloc, and the NDA, comprising BJP, TDP, and Jana Sena Party. Meanwhile, 28 Odisha Assembly seats are also up for grabs.

In Uttar Pradesh, where 13 Lok Sabha seats will be up for votes, attention is on Akhilesh Yadav’s race against BJP’s Subrat Pathak in Kannauj, and BJP’s Sakshi Maharaj against SP’s Annu Tandon in Unnao.

West Bengal sees heightened security with 3,647 polling stations marked “critical” across eight constituencies. Central forces deployment is significant, ensuring a smooth electoral process.

The Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, reshaped post-delimitation, observes its first major election since the abrogation of Article 370. Efforts to enhance voter turnout include outreach programs and various media campaigns.

In Andhra Pradesh, YSRCP is contesting all 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats, while TDP and BJP have their allocations as part of the NDA agreement. Key leaders like YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, N Chandrababu Naidu, and Pawan Kalyan are in the fray.

With the completion of this phase, polling will have concluded in 379 out of 543 Lok Sabha seats. The remaining phases are scheduled for May 20, May 25, and June 1, with the counting of votes taking place on June 4.
