Opposition slams Mamata: calls meetig with PM Modi ‘match-fixing’

New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s visit to Delhi has created agitation among the opposition parties. The Congress and the Left have called the meeting between Mamata Banerjee and Prime Minister as ‘match-fixing’. The opposition has linked Mamata’s visit to recent actions by the Enforcement Directorate. Mamata Banerjee has arrived in the capital on a four-day visit. She will attend the NITI Commission meeting here and will also prepare the floor strategy along with his party MPs.

West Bengal Congress spokesperson Ritu Ghoshal said, this match fixing has been going on since the 2016 Bengal Assembly elections. ED questioned Abhishek Banerjee only twice in coals scam case, where Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are being harassed daily on the baseless National Herald case. BJP is strengthening regional parties like TMC to weaken Congress. TMS contested elections in Goa and Tripura only to divide the opposition parties.

Similarly, CPI (M) West Bengal Secretary Muhammad Saleem said that this meeting is part of the match fixing system that has been going on for years. It is said that Banerjee wants to discuss the state’s demands with Modi. Why the face-to-face meeting on this issue? Bureaucracy should be present, he said. A secretary-level meeting should be held before this. It’s all part of the setup; people are not stupid as said by Saleem. Banerjee, who arrived in Delhi on Thursday along with her nephew and TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, will meet Prime Minister Modi on Friday. In fact, the opposition parties are criticizing Banerjee due to her visit coming a few days after the arrest of former minister Parth Chatterjee.
