After Ishan’s Double Ton, Bowlers Dent Bangladesh’s Run Chase

Dhaka: Ishan Kishan’s record-scripting double century helped India beat Bangladesh by 227 runs in the third ODI at Chattogram today but went down 1-2 in the three-match series.

Opening the batting, Kishan scored the fastest-ever double ton in ODI cricket (210 off 131 deliveries) to power India to a huge total of 409/8.

The 24-year-old became the fourth Indian after Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rohit Sharma to score a double century in ODIs. Kishan put on a match-winning partnership of 290 runs for the second wicket with Virat Kohli.

Kohli scored a superb 91-ball 113 and brought up his 44th ton in ODI cricket. This was also Kohli’s 72nd international century, and the 34-year-old has now gone past Ricky Ponting’s (71) tally of international centuries. Only Sachin Tendulkar (100 centuries) is ahead of Kohli now.

Chasing a target of 410, Bangladesh were bowled out for a paltry total of 182 in 34 overs.

Shakib Al Hasan top-scored for the hosts with 43. Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers for the Men in Blue, registering figures of 5-0-30-3.

The two teams will next square off in a two-match Test series, which will commence on December 14.
