Former Odia Test Cricketer Shiv Sunder Das Applies For BCCI Senior Men’s Selection Panel

Mumbai: Shiv Sunder Das, a former Indian batsman from Odisha, is one of the applicants vying to join the BCCI’s (Board of Control for Cricket in India) new senior men’s selection committee.

Other well-known names who have applied for the posts in the selection committee include Ajay Ratra, Maninder Singh, and Nayan Mongia.

Applications were accepted till Monday (November 28). A cricket advisory committee will likely be established by the BCCI soon to undertake interviews.

According to reports, the first task for the new selection panel would be to choose the Indian team for the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka at home in 2023.

At the moment, Das is Punjab’s batting coach. He has had stints with the Indian women’s team and was one of the coaches at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Notably, Debasis Mohanty, Sunder’s ex-teammate from Odisha, has finished his five-year tenure as a selector, and Das might take his place if chosen.

Earlier this month. the BCCI sacked the entire selection committee including its Chief Selector, Chetan Sharma.

Following the dissolution of the committee, the board had invited applications for the position of National Selectors (Senior Men).
