The Buddh International Circuit in New Delhi will host a MotoGP race starting in 2023, organisers informed on Friday.

Earlier this month, it was informed by Dorna Sports, the commercial rights holders of the event that it was in talks with the Uttar Pradesh government and India’s Sports Ministry, in this regard.

Considering the sheer numbers it can produce, in terms of viewership, India is notably a key market for MotoGP enthusiasts.

The Buddha International Circuit was a part of the Formula One races calendar between 2011 and 2013 before being taken down due to a tax dispute with the Uttar Pradesh Government.

Meanwhile, The Algarve International Circuit in Portimao, Portugal, will host the opening race of the 2023 MotoGP season from March 24 to 26.
