Indian Cricket Fraternity Erupts In Joy As Men In Blue Conquer T20 World Cup

Legendary figures of Indian cricket like MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, and Sunil Gavaskar among others hailed Rohit Sharma’s men for their spectacular triumph in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa. This victory marks India’s second T20 World Cup title and their fourth overall World Cup win.

Dhoni, captain of India’s maiden T20 World Cup victory in 2007, lauded the team’s composure under pressure in the high-voltage final. “Well done on being calm, having the self-belief and doing what you guys did,” Dhoni posted on Instagram, expressing his delight at the team’s win.

Tendulkar, a member of the Indian team that exited the 2007 ODI World Cup in the first round, expressed his joy on social media, highlighting the win’s significance in inspiring future generations. “Every star added to the Team India jersey inspires our nation’s starry-eyed children to move one step closer to their dreams,” Tendulkar wrote.

The legendary batsman also commended Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, crediting him for motivating the team after their loss at the 2023 ODI World Cup. He also celebrated the well-deserved Player of the Tournament and Player of the Match awards for Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli respectively.

Sunil Gavaskar compared the victory to scoring a well-deserved hundred. “It is a great win after such a long time,” Gavaskar stated. “Earlier, I kept saying that India was getting 90s but not getting centuries because they were reaching semi-finals and finals. Now, they have got a century and what a wonderful century this is.”

A chorus of congratulations resonated from other cricketing legends as well. VVS Laxman, the current head of the National Cricket Academy, lauded the team’s unbeaten run throughout the tournament and Rohit Sharma’s exceptional leadership. Former spinner Ravichandran Ashwin simply wrote, “We are champions!” to express his jubilation.

Yuvraj Singh, an ambassador for the T20 World Cup in the Americas, took to social media to praise individual players’ contributions, including Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid. Former captain Sourav Ganguly also joined the celebration, highlighting the team’s talent and the crucial role of the support staff.
