Despite the much-discussed rivalry between Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra in javelin throw, their relationship is marked by mutual respect and deep camaraderie. This bond became especially evident after their historic finish at the Paris Olympics, where Neeraj clinched silver and Arshad secured gold.
Social media buzzed with stories of their friendship, highlighting how competition hasn’t overshadowed their connection. Neeraj’s mother, Saroj, even referred to Arshad as “like her son,” emphasising the close relationship between the two athletes. In a recent interview, Arshad’s mother echoed these sentiments, expressing similar affection for Neeraj.
“He is like my son too. Neeraj is not just Nadeem’s friend, but also his brother. Wins and losses are part of sports, and I pray for Neeraj’s success just as I do for my own son,” she said.

While Arshad made history as Pakistan’s first-ever individual gold medalist, Neeraj became the first Indian to win consecutive individual Olympic medals in track and field.
Neeraj’s mother conveyed her happiness with their achievements, stating, “Both gold and silver feel the same to us. We see no difference between Neeraj and Nadeem.”
Neeraj has often supported Arshad, further strengthening their bond beyond the arena.
