New Rules for IPL 2023; Final Playing 11 after Toss, Check on Unfair Movement of Keeper

Three new cricketing rules have been added ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), scheduled to be launched on March 31.

As per the newly introduced rule, captains of the teams will name their final playing eleven players list after the toss. This will enable the captains to choose their best playing elevens as per the decision to bat or bowl first.

At present team captains exchange the playing eleven before the toss. Now the names of team members will be exchanged immediately after the toss.

South Africa’s SA20 has experimented with this earlier. IPL 2023 will become the second T20 franchise league to allow teams to announce their playing elevens after the toss.

Some other important new rules for IPL 2023 are:

– Unfair movement by the keeper or fielders will result in dead ball and 5 penalty runs.

– Only 4 fielders will be allowed outside 30 yards for every over not completed within time.

In the opening match of IPL 2023 on March 31 defending champions Gujarat Giants will take on four-time winners Chennai Super Kings on March 31 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
