Roger Federer To Pair Up With Rafael Nadal At Laver Cup For His Last Match

Before hanging up his boots, Roger Federer will team up with long-time rival Rafael Nadal for the final match of his glittering career at the Laver Cup.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion will play doubles with the Spaniard, who has won 22 majors, at the O2 arena in London on Friday.

The order of play released by the organisers for the opening day of the tournament showed Federer and Nadal will play the last match of the evening at London’s O2 Arena against the American pair of Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe.

“For as long as we battled together, having always had this respect for one another our families, our coaching teams we always got along really well,” Federer had told reporters when asked about the possibility of playing alongside the Spaniard.

“Dear Roger, my friend and rival. I wish this day would have never come. It’s a sad day for me personally and for sports around the world. It’s been a pleasure but also an honor and privilege to share all these years with you, living so many amazing moments on and off the court,” Nadal wrote in a post on social media.
