Mumbai: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Sourav Ganguly while interacting with media on September 30, refuted reports claiming Jasprit Bumrah’s ouster from the T20 World Cup 2022. Bumrah recently had a back ailment before India’s first T20 against South Africa and was forced to be sidelined for the rest of the series.

The BCCI on Friday announced that Jasprit Bumrah would be replaced by Mohammed Siraj for the rest of the T20I series against South Africa.

Bumrah missed the opening T20I against the Proteas on Wednesday and, the following day flew down to Bengaluru’s NCA to have his back problem assessed.

“Bumrah is not out of the World Cup yet,” Ganguly was quoted saying. A decision on his availability might be made in a couple of days, he added.

Bumrah’s comeback series against the Aussies didn’t quite go well for him. In two games, he bowled 6 overs conceding 73 runs at 12.16 runs an over.
