Suryakumar Yadav Closes In On Top Spot In Latest T20I Batting Rankings

Suryakumar Yadav was named the Player of the Series in India’s 2-1 series triumph against the Proteas. Continuing his remarkable run in T20Is, Yadav ranked second in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, as per the latest list revealed by the ICC, closing in on Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan, who leads the chart whereas, Babar Azam and Aiden Markram are ranked third and fourth respectively.

Yadav was on fire in the recently concluded home series against Australia and South Africa, piling up 235 runs at a strike rate of 190 in both the series combined. Back-to-back match-winning fifties against South Africa aided India to clinch the series.

Yadav is currently only 16 points behind Rizwan, who has 854 rating points. In the upcoming T20I World Cup in Australia, he will have the opportunity to surpass Rizwan.

Rizwan just ended the home series against Englan with 316 runs in six innings, but his strike rate of 138 is significantly lower than Yadav’s.

Suryakumar is also the highest run scorer in T20Is in 2022; the 32-year-old batter has accumulated 801 runs this year, followed by Rizwan with 620 runs.

Notably, the Indian fans are eagerly waiting to see Suryakumar Yadav seize the top berth from Rizwan during the T20I World Cup.
