T20 World Cup 2022: Shoaib Akhtar Predicts India’s Exit, Gets Brutally Trolled

The entirety of Pakistan is in a rage over the national team’s lacklustre performance in the wake of Pakistan’s humbling loss to minuscule Zimbabwe in the Group 2 match of the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Akhtar went on a lengthy tirade against Pakistan’s performance, which quickly gained popularity on social media. However, it was his remarks on the Indian team that infuriated supporters since he took advantage of the chance to make fun of Rohit Sharma’s team by saying that they will fly home after playing in the semi-finals while lamenting Pakistan’s subpar performance thus far in the mega event.

“The way Pakistan has been playing in the current T20 World Cup is quite unsatisfactory. I have previously stated that Pakistan will travel home this week. India will also return home after playing the semi-final since they aren’t equally qualified for the main stage,” according to a video posted by Akhtar on his YouTube channel.

Akhtar laid the burden for the Men in Green’s dismal performance in Australia squarely on the shoulders of everyone from skipper Babar Azam to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He even charged that the board had chosen “unworthy players.”

Pakistan’s chances of making the semi-finals are all but gone, according to observers, after two straight losses to India, and Zimbabwe.

India and South Africa are still the two favourites to advance from group 2.

Indian supporters were ready to respond to Akhtar for the unnecessary jab after reading the comments. Many social media users expressed their displeasure with the former Pakistan player on Twitter for his remarks on the Indian cricket team, which has opened the competition with two straight victories, including a famous victory over arch-rival Pakistan.

Pakistan has three more games left and is currently ranked fifth in Group 2, not having a single win to their credit. India, on the other side, is currently in first place after winning both of their opening two matches.
