T20 World Cup: India Rise To Top Spot In Points Table Beating Netherlands

Sydney: India defeated the Netherlands by 56 runs in their second Super 12 match of the ongoing T20 World Cup at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Earlier, India posted 179 for 2 at the end of their 20 overs and restricted the Netherlands to 123 for 9.

With this, India now rose to the top spot in the Group 2 points table in Super 12, moving above South Africa.

India now have 4 points and a healthy Net Run Rate of +1.425 as they look to put behind the disappointment of last year’s early exit and reach the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022.

Batting first, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav guided India to 179/2 in 20 overs.

Kohli and Suryakumar added 95 runs in their 4th partnership and the two batters collected 65 runs in the last 5 overs to deflate the Dutch hopes.

India were disciplined with the ball when defending the above-par total as Bhuvneshwar Kumar set the tone with 2 maidens at the top. India needed only 1 over from all-rounder Hardik Pandya as the regular bowlers stepped in, picking up all 9 wickets between them.

Reportedly, India are to take on South Africa in their next game in Perth on Sunday, October 30.
