Kanpur: Star Indian batter Virat Kohli added another milestone to his illustrious career by becoming the fastest player to reach 27,000 international runs.
Kohli achieved the feat during Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur on Monday, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record. While Tendulkar reached the mark in 623 innings, Kohli did it in just 594 innings, making him the first cricketer to cross this milestone in under 600 innings.
Kohli now joins an elite group of players, including Ricky Ponting and Kumar Sangakkara, who have also crossed 27,000 international runs.

In the ongoing Test match, India took control of the game as Ravichandran Ashwin’s two quick wickets reduced Bangladesh to 26/2 in their second innings. Bangladesh trail by 26 runs, with Ashwin delivering figures of 2/14.
Earlier, India posted 285/9 in their first innings, thanks to aggressive fifties from Yashasvi Jaiswal (71 off 52 balls) and KL Rahul (68 off 43 balls). Kohli contributed a quick 47 off 35 balls. For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan (4/78) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (4/41) led the bowling attack.
Bangladesh were bowled out for 233 in their first innings.
