Twitter To Start Charging Verification Fee To Users

San Francisco: Soon after Elon Musk closed the Twitter deal, the giant micro-blogging site is planning to charge users $19.99 for getting verified on the platform.

Twitter’s premium service named Twitter Blue is currently charging $4.99 per month to unlock a host of additional features, is slated to be costlier.

According to reports, users verified with a blue tick on Twitter have been given a time period of 90 days to pay the adequate subscription fee in order to retain their verification mark.

However, Twitter Blue, as of now is available only in four countries- the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The premium service primarily lets you read articles from some publishers ad-free.

Musk wants half of the company’s total revenue to be catered by in-app purchases or subscriptions, as per reports.

Whereas Musk in a recent tweet hinted that Twitter could soon expand the 280-character limit on the platform, he also added that they will also look to increase the video duration limit set on the platform in order to let the users post longer videos.
