Delhi Liquor Policy Case: ED To File First Chargesheet Against Arvind Kejriwal Tomorrow

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is expected to file its first chargesheet against Arvind Kejriwal in connection with a money laundering case related to the now-scrapped liquor policy. This marks the first time that Kejriwal will be named as an accused in the case.

Scheduled alongside a Supreme Court hearing on Friday regarding interim bail for Kejriwal in the liquor policy case, the ED’s filing labels Kejriwal as a ‘kingpin’ and key conspirator. The agency asserts it has established a financial trail leading to Kejriwal.

During a recent hearing, Justice Sanjiv Khanna advised the ED’s counsel to be prepared for submissions on Friday, indicating that a decision on interim bail is likely on the cards. The Supreme Court bench, also comprising Justice Dipankar Datta, remained firm in its stance against granting bail, expressing concerns about potential conflicts of interest should Kejriwal resume official duties.

Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with the liquor policy case and is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. Despite previous attempts, he has been unsuccessful in securing bail, hindering his participation in ongoing electoral campaigns.
