Nine arrested for Netflix-Series-Style $20 Million Canada gold Heist

Canadian police have arrested nine persons in the largest gold theft in the country’s history, reported the BBC.

More than 6,500 gold bars worth C$20m along with millions in cash were stolen from Toronto Pearson Airport, in April 2023.

According to the Canadian police, this “Netflix-series”-style heist was executed by a “well-organised group of criminals”.

The year-long joint investigation was code-named Project 24K.

So far, police have recovered C$90,000 of “pure gold” transformed into six “crudely made” bracelets. Police also seized smelting pots, casts and moulds, as well as C$430,000 in cash. According to the police this seized cash was the profits of gold sales.

In September, a man was arrested in the US, who was allegedly the gang’s driver. Firearms were discovered in his car.

His interrogation led to the arrest of other persons involved in this major heist.
