Firing at Ram Navami Kirtan in Boudh, One Injured, Youth Arrested

Boudh: A youth fired at a kirtan organized on the occasion of Ram Navami at a village in Kantamal area of Odisha’s Boudh district. One person was critically injured in this firing incident that took place at Pipalapalli village under the Kantamal police station limits on Wednesday night.

The injured, identified as Biswamitra Jani has been shifted to a hospital in Raipur.

Villagers at the spot managed to nab the accused Balabanta Nayak (21) of Sana Manamunda village of Khatkhatiya panchayat. He was handed over to the police.

Injured Jani was one of the organizing members of the Ram Navami kirtan at the village.

The reason behind this firing incident is yet to be ascertained. Preliminary investigation by the police hints at past rivalry between two groups as the reason behind the shootout.
