Puri Gears Up for Deva Snana Purnima: Traffic Regulations Issued, Festivities in Full Swing

Puri: Puri authorities have announced comprehensive traffic regulations for the upcoming Deva Snana Purnima festival, scheduled to be held on June 22. The measures aim to ensure smooth traffic flow and public convenience during this significant religious event.

Key Traffic Advisory Points:

  • Regular passenger buses from Bhubaneswar and Konark will maintain access to the Municipality Bus Stand.
  • Town shuttle buses and auto-rickshaws are permitted up to Medical Square on Badadanda.
  • Protocol vehicles can park near Gadadhar High School, with battery-operated vehicle (BOV) services available.
  • Light motor vehicles (LMVs) from Bhubaneswar will be redirected to designated parking areas, including JBPC and Jail Road.
  • LMVs from Brahmagiri and Konark will have separate parking arrangements at locations like Yatrika and Blue Flag Beach.
  • Two-wheelers can park along eastern Badadanda, with overflow directed to Jail Road and Saradhabali.
  • A no-vehicle zone will be enforced around the temple area, with exceptions for pass holders and emergency vehicles.

The traffic regulations will be in effect from 10 PM on June 21 until the conclusion of the Devasnana Purnima festival.

The Snana Jatra of Lord Jagannath is set to commence on June 22, with authorities deploying 70 platoons of police force. The ‘Pahandi Bije’ procession is scheduled from 4 AM to 6 AM, followed by the ritual bathing of the deities with 108 pots of scented water on the Snana Bedi. Lord Jagannath will appear in the Hatibesa (elephant form) during the ceremony.
