3 Killed by Explosion in a Medicine Factory

Amaravati: An explosion in a drug manufacturing unit claimed three lives at Gouripatnam in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. East Godavari district administration declared financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh each to families of the deceased.

This mishap occurred on the premises of Vision Drugs Private Limited at Gouripatnam. Employees of the company were trying to solve a technical problem when the blast occurred, police sources said.

As per the initial investigation, high pressure caused by high temperatures in the pipeline meant for recycling of water and chemicals may have led to the explosion. Shattered glass and metal pieces pierced the body of victims, causing their death on the spot.
