5 UP Police Officers Suspended In Connection With Killings of Atiq Ahmed & His Brother

Prayagraj: Five police officers posted in Prayagraj were suspended on Wednesday in connection with the double murder of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf. All these cops were posted at the Shahganj Police Station which has the MLN Medical College under its jurisdiction.

Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot by three assailants posing as journalists on April 16 in Prayagraj. The double murder took place in the presence of police personnel and newsmen.

The three killers were Sunny Singh (23) of Hamirpur, Lavlesh Tiwari (22) of Banda, and Arun Maurya (18) of Kasganj. All of them were sent to four-day police remand till April 23 on Wednesday.

The suspension of the cops and the police remand of the shooters came on the same day that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a meeting to nab Atiq’s wife Shaista Parveen and Guddu Muslim, the other accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, Guddu Muslim.
