Couple Killed As House Set Ablaze After Woman Hangs Herself in UP

Prayagraj: An aged couple were burnt alive when their house was set on fire during a fight with the parents of their daughter-in-law who had allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Prayagraj of Uttar Pradesh.

Three others including the woman’s husband were injured in the fire.

According to the police, a 27-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide on Monday night at her in-laws’ house in the Muthiganj police station area.

Her parents and other family members gathered reached the spot and fought with the woman’s in-laws, alleging that she was murdered and then hanged.

Some people set the house of the woman’s in-laws ablaze. Police managed to rescue five persons from the burning house with the help of the fire brigade.

While searching the burnt house at around 3 am, the bodies of the woman’s father-in-law Rajendra Kesarwani (65) and mother-in-law Shobha Devi (62) were found.

The persons injured in the fire were the woman’s husband, Rajendra’s daughter Shivani, and Lovely Kesarwani, the wife of his younger brother.
