Inter-Dist Fake Currency Note Racket Busted in Deogarh, Two Nabbed

Deogarh: A fake currency racket spreading over some districts of Odisha was busted by police in the Deogarh district. One person involved in this racket was arrested. An investigation is on to nab other persons involved in this counterfeit currency racket.

This fake note racket came to the fore when the arrested accused bought some items from a shopkeeper at Expo Bazar near the private bus stand in Deogarh town on Saturday. Identifying the fake notes, the shopkeeper detained the accused named Binod Kumar from Brajarajnagar of Jharsuguda district and informed the police.

Police raided the Khapara Sahi residence of the accused in Deogarh town. Police seized 135 fake notes of Rs 500 denomination and 20 notes of Rs 200 from his house.

A bank passbook, 14 ATM cards, 6 mobile phones, and a Bolero car owned by Binod were seized for investigation.

During interrogation, Binod revealed that he had got the fake currency notes worth Rs 1 lakh from Punei Oram of Saldega village by paying Rs 30,000.

Punei could be traced out and was taken into custody. Punei revealed that he had got the fake notes from one Madhu Barik of Bargarh.

The search is on to nab Madhu Barik, who managed to escape.
