Bhawanipatna: A gang involved in the printing of fake currency notes was nabbed by the personnel of the Borda police outpost under Kegaon police station limits in Odisha’s Kalahandi district. Three persons involved in this fake note printing and distribution racket were arrested.
Police seized a printer, counterfeit notes, paper cutters, and papers used to print the fake notes from the possession of the arrested trio.
The arrested counterfeiters were identified as Kana Mahapatra of Borda village, Mandu Chandan of Rajnapur village, and Santosh Bhoi of Kusumasil village.
In the recent past, these three accused were using fake currency notes to buy articles at the Borda market. Local traders became suspicious of them and informed the police.
Police rounded them and during interrogation, it was revealed that they were printing the fake currency notes at the residence of Santosh Bhoi.
The three accused were produced in the court and later sent to judicial custody after their bail plea was rejected.
An investigation is on to find out whether other persons were also involved in their counterfeit note racket or not.
