BJP Worker’s Mother Allegedly Beaten to Death By TMC Supporters in West Bengal

Gaighata (WB): In a tragic incident in Gaighata, West Bengal, Kanan Roy, the mother of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker, lost her life on September 28 due to injuries sustained during an alleged attack by Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters. The accused, identified as Samir Mallik, has been apprehended by law enforcement.

The family of the deceased asserted that their support for the BJP and political animosity led to this unfortunate killing. It is reported that Kanan Roy was participating in a protest against alcohol consumption in the state when the incident occurred.

The situation escalated further as villagers surrounded the residence of Nirupam Roy, a district Trinamool youth leader, alleging his involvement in the murder. They demanded Roy’s immediate arrest, claiming that he was attempting to exert influence in the area through his role as a youth Trinamool leader. Gaighata police promptly responded to the scene to maintain order.

The deceased’s family voiced their suspicions, stating, “We supported the BJP, and due to political enmity, Samir Mallik killed Kanan Roy. He received orders from TMC’s Bongon organisational district youth president, Nirupam Roy.”

Local witnesses reported that Samir Mallik had been displaying disruptive behaviour in the area. “When we protested, Samir climbed on top of Kanan Devi, causing her a head injury. Despite immediate rescue efforts and transportation to the hospital, the medical team declared her deceased,” shared the locals.

Kanan Roy’s son, Jayant Roy, firmly believes that the TMC targeted his family due to their support for the BJP. This tragic incident highlights the volatile political landscape in the region and the need for a thorough investigation into the matter.
