Rayagada Class 3 Student Rape, NHRC Orders Impartial Investigation

Rayagada: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken the incident of the alleged rape of a class 3 student by a school peon in Odisha’s Rayagada seriously and has directed the police administration to conduct an impartial investigation and give justice to the family members of the victim.

The NHRC passed this order hearing the plea filed by the state President of Nyay Pain Ladhei Parivar (NPLP) Subrat Kumar Dash seeking stern action against the accused and a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the family members of the victim.

“This complaint be transmitted to the concerned authority for such action as deemed appropriate. The case is closed,” the NHRC stated in the letter to the Superintendent of Police (SP).

A week back, an eight-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by a peon, at an ashram school run by ST, SC development department of the Odisha government at Dangasil village under Kashipur block of the Rayagada district. The accused Shiba Prasad Mishra has been suspended and arrested by the police.
