Haryana Youth Fighting for Russia Against Ukraine Dies on Frontline

New Delhi: A 22-year-old Haryana man named Ravi Moun is reported to have died on the frontline while fighting for the Russian Army against Ukraine.

His family claimed on Monday that the Indian embassy in Moscow has confirmed the death of Ravi Moun. He was from the Matour village in Haryana’s Kaithal district.

His family claimed that Ravi reached Russia on January 13. He believed that he was “hired” for a transportation job but was inducted into the military, his brother claimed.

Ravi’s brother, Ajay Moun wrote to the Indian embassy on July 21 for information on his brother’s whereabouts. The embassy is said to have replied that he has die. The family said the embassy also asked them to send a DNA test report for identification of the body.

Recently Russia agreed to ensure early release and return of Indian nationals inducted into the country’s military.

According to Ajay Moun, his brother was trained to dig trenches and later sent to the frontline. He was in touch with his family till March 12.

The family sold off a one-acre land and spent Rs 11.50 lakh to send him to Russia.
