Jalaka River Crosses Danger Mark in Balasore District

Balasore: Because of the incessant rains caused by the low pressure on the Bay of Bengal, the Jalaka River was flowing above the danger mark at Mathani under Basta block in Balasore district on Tuesday morning.

The water level in the river was at 6.26 metres against the danger level of 5.50 metre.

If the water level continues to rise in the Jalaka river, several panchayats of Basta and Sadar blocks are likely to be affected. According to reports, people living on both sides of the river are alarmed as the increase in the water level in the river can cause breaches in the embankments at weak points.
