At least two children died, and nine others were injured in a “ferocious” knife attack at a dance workshop in northwest England on Monday, police said.
A 17-year-old boy involved in the attack has been arrested. A knife used in the attack has been seized from his possession.
This knife attack occurred at a community center where a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga event for children aged about 6 to 11 was taking place in Southport, a seaside town near Liverpool.
Merseyside Police called it a “major incident” but said there was no wider threat to the public, as it was not terror-related. ,
The suspect is an inhabitant of a village about 8 km from the site of the attack.
Britain’s worst attack on children occurred in 1996, when 43-year-old Thomas Hamilton shot dead 16 kindergarten kids and their teacher dead in a school gymnasium in Dunblane, Scotland.
