Ex-Health Secy, Preeti Sudan Appointed UPSC Chairperson

New Delhi: Preeti Sudan, the former Union Health Secretary, has been appointed as the chairperson of the UPSC.

This 1983 batch IAS officer will replace Manoj Soni, who resigned before the end of his tenure citing “personal reasons”.

Preeti Sudan will take charge as the UPSC chairperson on August 1.

In a letter addressed to UPSC secretary Shashi Ranjan Kumar by Additional Secretary Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, stated that Preeti Sudan will continue as the UPSC chairperson till “further orders” or till April 29, 2025 – “whichever is earlier”.

Manoj Soni resigned, almost five years before the end of his tenure in 2029.

According to the letter by Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Soni had resigned on July 4 and his resignation was accepted by the President with effect from July 31.

The UPSC conducts the civil services exam (CSE) to recruit candidates into top government services such as IAS, IPS, IFS.
