Puri Police Summons 3 Persons for Climbing Chariots During Rath Yatra Posing As Servitors

Puri: Three persons, who climbed onto the chariots during Rath Yatra posing as servitors and using fake passes, have been summoned by the Puri police to appear before the authorities for investigation.

The three have been identified as Rajesh Kumar Sahu of Gandia village in Dhenkanal district, Prasanna Kumar Behura of Kusumpur village in Kendrapara district and Gopalkrushna Polanki of Berhampur in Ganjam district.  They were unauthorized to climb the chariots.

After checking of CCTV footage and drone camera images provided by the temple administration, two criminal cases against them were registered at the Singhadwara and Kumbharpara police stations by temple administrator Ajay Kumar Jena.

Rajesh and Prasanna got dressed as servitors and used fake passes to climb the chariots of the deities on the day of Sri Gundicha. On Bahuda Yatra, Gopalkrushna was identified and removed from the chariot at the direction of the chief administrator of the Sri Jagananth temple.

A show-cause notice has also been issued to a Daitapti servitor who allegedly facilitated the unauthorized presence of non-servitors on chariots following a complaint lodged at Kumbharpara police station.
