Hasina Trying for Asylum in Saudi Arabia, UAE: Report

Even 48 hours after Sheikh Hasina escaped from Bangladesh after resigning and arrived in India, her final destination has not been decided.

According to media reports, she is exploring other options as the UK and the USA are not showing any interest to provide her political asylum. She is now said to be considering taking refuge in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, or Finland.

However, her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, said that Sheikh Hasina has not sought asylum anywhere. Joy told NDTV that she might be travelling to places where family members reside, such as the USA, the UK, Finland, and India.

Joy stays in Washington, his aunt is in London, and his sister lives in Delhi.

On Monday, it was reported that the USA has cancelled Hasina’s visa. However, the USA has not yet confirmed the claim.

It is not known for how many days more Sheikh Hasina would remain in India.
