Cine Actor Shato Khan, Producer Father Selim Khan Lynched by Mob in Bangladesh

Kolkata: Bangladeshi film actor Shanto Khan was lynched at Chandpur on Monday night along with his father, producer Selim Khan.

Selim Khan owned a renowned Bangladeshi production house and financed hit films ‘Tungi Parar Miya Bhai’, ‘Commando’ and others.

The actor and his father were targeted by the mob because of their past links with Sheikh Hasina led Awami League. Selim Khan was an expelled leader of the Awami League, the supporters of which have been facing attacks for the past several days.

Sheikh Hasina who was heading the Awami League government in the country resigned on Monday.

Members of the Kolkata film industry expressed shock over the killing of Bangladeshi actor and his father during the unrest in the neighbouring country. Several Kolkata based Indian actors have worked with Shanto Khan in Bangladeshi films.

Shanto debuted with ‘Prem Chor’ in 2019 and later worked in ‘Piya Re’ in 2021, ‘Bubujaan’ in 2023 and ‘Anto Nagar’ in 2024.
