Odisha Finishes as Runners-Up in Junior National Football Championship 2024-25

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s impressive journey in the Junior Boys’ National Football Championship for Dr BC Roy Trophy 2024-25 ended with a runners-up finish. Despite a strong run throughout the tournament, Odisha fell short in the final, losing 0-2 to West Bengal at Ram Krishna Mission Ashram Ground, Narainpur, Chhattisgarh.

West Bengal’s Subhodip Sardar emerged as the hero of the match, scoring both goals. He netted the first goal in the second minute of the game, putting Odisha on the back foot. Despite several attempts, Odisha couldn’t find the equaliser, and their hopes were further dashed when Subhodip scored again in the 72nd minute.

Earlier in the semifinal, Odisha had secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Chandigarh, setting up the final clash with West Bengal.

While Odisha couldn’t claim the championship title, the Football Association of Odisha (FAO) secretary, Ashirbad Behera, along with other officials, extended their congratulations to the team. They lauded captain Prempiyush Bagh, goalkeeper Uday Ekka, and the entire squad for their commendable performance in the tournament.
