‘Daman’ Wins Best Odia Film Award at 70th National Film Awards

Bhubaneswar: Babushaan Mohanty-starrer ‘Daman’ has been honoured as the Best Odia Film at the 70th National Film Awards, announced on Friday. The award includes a Rajat Kamal and a cash prize of ₹2 lakh. The film, co-written and directed by Vishal Mourya and Debi Prasad Lenka, hit theatres on 4th November 2022.

‘Daman’ depicts a doctor’s mission to combat superstitions and educate the tribal communities of Odisha’s Malkangiri district about malaria. The film, which has become the highest-grossing Odia movie to date, was declared tax-free by the Odisha government.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the award winners in New Delhi. The awards, including the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu in October.
