PMAY Assistance to be Raised to Rs 1.8 lakh from Rs 1.2 Lakh, Says Odisha Min

Bhubaneswar: The financial assistance under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) will be enhanced to Rs 1.8 lakh from the existing Rs 1.2 lakh, said Odisha Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department Minister Rabi Narayan Naik on Monday. He added that a notification and guideline in this regard will be released soon.

“If MGNREGA is included into the scheme, the beneficiaries will get around Rs 2 lakh,” he said.

The financial assistance of Rs 12,000 for construction of toilets is also being planned to be increased to Rs 20,000, said the minister.

Naik informed that the BJP government in Odisha is planning to implement Odisha Antyodaya Gruha Yojana under which people, whose houses were damaged in fire mishaps, elephant attacks or other natural disasters, will be provided assistance. He slammed the ‘Mo Ghara’ scheme of the pervious BJD government as a political stunt claiming that no one benefitted from the scheme.
