Airtel to Close Down Wynk Music App, To Absorb All Its Employees

New Delhi: Bharti Airtel has decided to close down its Wynk Music app, reported NDTV quoting sources.

The information was confirmed by an Airtel spokesperson a few hours after the company announced entering into a strategic partnership with iPhone maker Apple for video and music streaming, added the NDTV report.

Wynk Music will be closed down in the next few months and all its employees will be absorbed in other fields of the company, PTI reported quoting a source.

The Wynk music App was started by Airtel in 2014. It now has over 100 million subscribers.

The company has entered into an agreement with Apple to provide access to Apple Music with special offers to its customers who use iPhone.

Airtel has also announced that Apple TV+ — the video content platform from Apple — will be accessible through its video streaming platform Xstream and Apple Music for Wynk Music premium users later this year.
