Viral Video Shows Cows Thrown Into Swollen River in Madhya Pradesh; 4 Booked

A video showing several cows being thrown into a swollen river in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district has gone viral, leading to a police investigation and the registration of a case against four men.

The incident occurred on Tuesday under the jurisdiction of Nagod police station. Preliminary reports suggest that 15 to 20 cows have died, though this information is yet to be confirmed, according to police statements made on Wednesday.

Nagod police station in-charge Ashok Pandey stated that the video surfaced on Tuesday evening, depicting cows being thrown into the Satna river from a railway bridge near Bamhor. Upon receiving the video, the police dispatched a team to the site for further investigation, after which a case was filed.

The four accused, identified as Beta Bagri, Ravi Bagri, Rampal Choudhary and Rajlu Choudhary, have been charged under the Madhya Pradesh Gauvansh Vadh Pratishedh Adhiniyam, a law that prohibits cow slaughter in the state, as well as under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Pandey mentioned that the exact number of cows involved and the death toll would be confirmed after a thorough investigation. A rescue operation is currently ongoing. The police have also launched a manhunt for the accused.
