‘How Dare You?’: Himanta Biswa Sarma Slams Mamata Banerjee for Threatening Assam, Odisha Amid Bengal Crisis
Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee issued a strong warning to BJP on Wednesday, following calls for her resignation over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital. Accusing the BJP of exploiting the tragedy for political gain, Mamata stated that unrest in Bengal could have severe repercussions across neighbouring states.
“If Bengal burns, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Delhi will also be affected,” Mamata declared during a rally marking the foundation day of the Trinamool Congress’ student wing.
In response, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma rebuked Mamata, stating, “Didi, how dare you threaten Assam? Don’t try to burn India with your divisive politics.”
আপনার অসফলতার… pic.twitter.com/k194lajS8s

BJP leaders, including the party’s Bengal unit president and Union minister Sukanta Majumdar, condemned Mamata’s remarks, calling them an incitement to violence and hatred. Majumdar demanded Mamata’s immediate resignation, arguing that her comments were unbecoming of someone in a constitutional position.
BJP also slammed Mamata for endorsing “revenge politics” after she urged her supporters to “do what needs to be done.” Majumdar wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, asserting that Mamata’s statements were a blatant endorsement of violence and revenge.
I have written to Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah to apprise him of the alarming law and order situation in WB. CM Mamata Banerjee’s recent anti-national remarks, threatening unrest across states, are deeply concerning. #MamataResign pic.twitter.com/teBOk28Nm1
