England Batter Dawid Malan Announces Retirement from International Cricket

England batter Dawid Malan has announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to a successful career that spanned across all three formats.

Malan last represented England at the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup but has been absent from international action since. During his illustrious career, he played a total of 114 matches, amassing 4,416 runs at an impressive average of 37.74. He notched eight centuries and 31 half-centuries, showcasing his batting prowess.

Malan made his international debut in June 2017 against South Africa, where he immediately caught the eye with a blistering 44-ball 78. His T20I career was particularly noteworthy, as he consistently contributed significant runs for England.

Speaking about his retirement, Malan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent England and acknowledged the challenges and rewards of his journey. He also mentioned his satisfaction with his achievements and his decision to step away from international cricket at this time.

Malan was a vital member of England’s T20 World Cup-winning squad in Australia in 2022, although an injury prevented him from participating in the knockout stages. He also enjoyed significant success in ODIs, particularly during the 2023 World Cup, where he scored five centuries in just 15 innings.

Despite England’s early exit from the 2023 World Cup, Malan’s contributions to the team were undeniable. He finished as the team’s top run-scorer with 404 runs, including one century and two fifties.
