‘Khushi’, The Lone Giraffe in Nandankanan Gets 2 Friends From Kolkata’s Alipore Zoo

Bhubaneswar: A male and a female giraffe from the Alipore Zoological Garden in Kolkata have arrived in the Nandankanan zoological park in Bhubaneswar to provide company to Khushi, the lone giraffe that was staying in the zoo.

The male giraffe that arrived from the Alipore Zoo is 1 year and 5 months old, while the female giraffe is 1 year and 1 month old.

Now the giraffe number in Nandankanan has reached 3.

The lone female giraffe in Nandankanan named ‘Khushi’ was brought here from the Patna Zoo in Bihar in 2012. At that time Khushi was one and a half years old. Later, a 6-year-old giraffe named Jay was brought to Nandankanan from Kolkata’s Alipore Zoo to provide company to Khushi. But Jay died 5 days after arrival in Nandankanan. Since then, Khushi was living a lonely life in Nandankanan.
