Killer Wolves Strike Again in UP, 5-Yr-Old Girl Injured in Bahraich

Lucknow: A five-year-old girl was injured in a wolf attack on the intervening night of September 2 and 3 in the Girdharpur area of the district in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district. The victim l sustained injuries to her neck and head.

This was the second attack by a wild animal on a child in less than 24 hours. Earlier, a two-year-old girl was killed in the Mahsi area of the Bahraich district.

At least eight people have died in wolf attacks in Bahraich district since July 17. They included seven children and around 30 were injured.

According to forest officials, four of the pack of six wolves involved in these attacks, have been captured through “Operation Bhediya”. Efforts are on to catch the others.

At least 35 villages in Bahraich are on high alert after the killing of eight children and a woman by the wolves in the past one-and-a-half months.
