15-Yr-Old Attempting to Rape a 3-Yr-Old Girl Caught in Assam

Guwahati: The locals caught a 15-year-old boy while he was attempting to rape a three-year-old girl in Assam’s Karimganj district on Sunday evening and handed him over to the police.

In the complaint lodged with the police, the parents of the victim alleged that on Sunday evening, the accused boy came to their house on the pretext of playing with her. When the girl’s mother returned after going out for 15 minutes, she allegedly saw the boy without clothes and trying to undress her daughter.

Seeing the woman, the erring minor boy tried to run away. But he was caught by neighbours and was handed over to the police.

Since the accused is a 15-year-old boy, the case will be handled by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB).

The minor boy was booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

As the victim is too young to tell anything about the crime, police have recorded the statements of her family members.
