3 Terrorists Killed In Encounter With Security Forces In J&K’s Kathua

Srinagar: In a joint operation today, the Indian Army’s special forces and the Jammu and Kashmir Police neutralised three terrorists in the Kathua district.

The operation, which is still ongoing, involves units from the Army’s 1 Para, 22 Garhwal Rifles and the Union Territory’s Special Operations Group (SOG), according to reports.

The heightened security comes as Jammu and Kashmir prepares for elections, scheduled to begin on September 18 in three phases.

Earlier in the day, a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier was injured due to unprovoked firing by Pakistani forces in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The BSF, responsible for guarding the 3,323 km-long India-Pakistan border, has placed troops on high alert amid rising tensions along the border.
