Man Murdered by His Elderly Father in Nayagarh Dist Over Family Dispute

Nayagarh: A 65-year-old elderly man killed his 38-year-old son over a family dispute at Gayunjar village in the Nuapada block of Nayagarh district on Tuesday night.

The accused Jata Oram (65) slit the throat of his son Basant Oram (38) while the latter was sleeping.

The father and son did not have a good relationship and were having frequent quarrels. On Tuesday night they had an altercation.

After having dinner, Basant went to sleep in his room. It is alleged that and after some time Jata entered the room and slit Basant’s throat with a sharp weapon. Hearing his scream, other family members rushed to the room and Jata escaped from the spot.

Basant was rushed to the Birsa Primary Health Center, where doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.

On being informed, police reached Gayunjar and arrested Jat.
