ED Raids Houses of Associates of Ex-Principal of RG Kar Hospital in Financial Irregularities Case

Kolkata: Officials of the ED took up search operations at the houses and offices of persons “close” to the arrested former principal of RG Kar hospital, Sandip Ghosh, on Thursday as part of the investigation into the financial irregularities at the medical institute.

The ED raids were conducted at the flat of Chandan Louhya in Kolkata’s Tala area and an office in Kalindi. Another ED team searched Ghosh’s ancestral home in Chinar Park in North 24 Parganas district.

Louhya and his wife are being interrogated as they were shown favour by Ghosh in granting a tender. An ED team is searching for documents at the office of an organization that supplied equipment to RG Kar hospital.

The ED as well the CBI are conducting parallel investigations into the alleged financial irregularities at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

The CBI has arrested Ghosh and three of his associates in connection with the case.
