Asst Engineer Owning Buildings Worth Crores Arrested by Vigilance

Berhampur: The Vigilance officials arrested Prasanna Kumar Swain, Assistant Engineer (Civil) of the Irrigation Division, Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district, on Thursday, for possessing disproportionate assets.

Raids on properties linked to the arrested engineer on Wednesday revealed that he possessed six multi-storied buildings worth crores of rupees. These buildings included two palatial four-storey buildings worth approximately Rs 2.4 crore and  Rs 2.3 crore respectively, five high-value homestead plots, deposits over Rs 23.94 lakh and gold weighing around 200 grams.

As Swain failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for these assets, he was arrested. Berhampur Vigilance wing has registered a case in this connection against Swain.
