Brothers Face Lethal Attack During Ganesh Idol Immersion; 1 Dead, Other Critically Injured

Berhampur: Two brothers were attacked lethally at Amritulu village in the Surada block of Ganjam district during the Ganesh idol immersion procession. One of them died, while the other was critically injured.

Following an altercation during the Ganesh idol immersion procession at the village, two brothers, Babu Swain and Jitu Swain, were allegedly attacked by their rival group.

Babu succumbed to his injuries, while Jitu was admitted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Jitu’s brother-in-law was also injured in the attack.

Police have rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation into the matter. “We are investigating the incident and will take stern action against the culprits,” said a police official.

According to sources past enmity led to this attack.

The local police have reached the spot. According to reports, the alleged attacker has been nabbed. Police are continuing a probe.
