Atishi Will be New CM of Delhi; Kejriwal to Resign Today

New Delhi: AAP leader and minister, Atishi will be the new Chief Minister of Delhi.

The legislative party of AAP chaired by Arvind Kejriwal at his Delhi residence on Tuesday chose Atishi for the post of the Chief Minister.

At the meeting of AAP MLAs, when the AAP national convener proposed Atishi’s name, all AAP MLAs accepted it and Atishi was elected leader of the legislature party.

Atishi now holds key portfolios in the Delhi government such as Education and Public Works Department.  She is an Oxford University alumnus and a Rhodes scholar.

The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is expected to resign on Tuesday afternoon.

Kejriwal is expected to meet  Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena at 4.30 pm and tender his resignation.

After being released from Tihar jail on bail in the excise policy case, the AAP national convenor said on Sunday that he would resign within 48 hours and sought early polls in Delhi. He vowed not to sit in the chief minister’s chair till people gave him a “certificate of honesty”.
